Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Remote Veterinary Assistant to join our expanding virtual veterinary support team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide essential administrative and medical support to veterinarians, pet owners, and clinics by performing a range of virtual duties. Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians remotely in managing daily tasks such as scheduling, updating patient records, and following up with clients.

• Provide empathetic and knowledgeable customer service to pet owners via phone, email, or live chat.

• Record patient symptoms, history, and updates as reported by clients.

• Coordinate telehealth appointments and ensure that veterinarians have the necessary information prior to consultations.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date veterinary records in the digital system.

• Educate pet owners on basic care procedures, medication instructions, and post-visit care.

• Help with prescription refills, liaising with pharmacies or in-house fulfillment services.

• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and ethical standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Completion of a Veterinary Assistant certification program is preferred but not mandatory.

• Proficiency with computers, digital record systems, and communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, veterinary software).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.

• Passion for animals and animal healthcare.

Experience

• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar customer-facing, animal-related support role.

• Remote work experience is a plus.

• Experience using veterinary practice management software (e.g., AVImark, eVetPractice) is an asset.

Working Hours

• Flexible scheduling available with shifts typically ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week.

• Weekend and evening availability may be required depending on client needs.

• All work is performed remotely, with the expectation of attending virtual meetings and responding within agreed-upon timeframes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and terminology.

• Ability to remain calm in high-stress or emotionally charged situations.

• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and appointments efficiently.

• Ability to work independently, while staying connected to a remote team.

• Familiarity with pet behavior and health issues.
