Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cargo Warehouse Assistant to join our logistics team at OR Tambo International Airport. Key Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect incoming cargo against airway bills and documentation.

• Ensure accurate sorting, labeling, and storage of cargo according to type, priority, and destination.

• Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and trolleys.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.

• Prepare cargo for dispatch, ensuring correct documentation and secure packaging.

• Assist with cargo build-up and breakdown processes.

• Adhere to security and safety protocols at all times within the warehouse environment.

• Support daily operational goals through teamwork and time management.

• Liaise with freight forwarders, couriers, and internal departments when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent (minimum requirement).

• Forklift license (advantageous).

• Basic computer literacy.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting cargo documentation.

• Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy packages.

• Clear criminal record and willingness to undergo background and security checks.

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years experience in a cargo, warehouse, or logistics environment (aviation industry preferred).

• Experience working in a time-sensitive and safety-regulated facility is a plus.

• Previous exposure to customs clearance and cargo handling procedures is advantageous.

Working Hours

• Full-time position.

• Rotational shifts (day and night), including weekends and public holidays.

• Overtime may be required depending on operational demand.
