Houston Skilled Consultancy is hiring enthusiastic, customer-focused, and service-driven individuals for the position of Retail Associate aboard luxurious cruise ships. As a Retail Associate, you will be responsible for creating exceptional shopping experiences in duty-free retail outlets onboard international cruise liners. Greet cruise guests warmly and provide outstanding customer service in a retail environment.
Assist passengers in selecting and purchasing duty-free products including luxury items, apparel, fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, and souvenirs.
Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle transactions accurately, and manage cash registers.
Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the store in compliance with company standards.
Restock merchandise and assist with inventory management and daily stock checks.
Stay informed about product features, benefits, promotions, and store policies.
Achieve and exceed sales targets and contribute to a positive team environment.
Address customer queries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
Comply with international maritime and onboard retail regulations.
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree is a plus).
Excellent verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Proficiency in using sales systems or POS terminals.
Ability to work in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Minimum 1 year of experience in retail, sales, or customer service (experience in duty-free or luxury retail is highly desirable).
Prior experience in a hospitality or travel-based role (e.g., airport, hotel, cruise) is advantageous.
Rotational shifts (8-10 hours per day) based on cruise itinerary.
Workdays include weekends and holidays, with scheduled off-days during the voyage.
Contract duration typically ranges from 6 to 9 months onboard.
Knowledge of luxury goods, duty-free merchandise, and sales techniques.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and customer needs.
Strong upselling and cross-selling techniques.
Team player with the capability to work independently.
