Job Summary:

Progressive Technology is seeking an experienced and certified Medical Coder to join our team. This role focuses on inpatient facility coding, specializing in Inpatient DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding for U.S.-based healthcare organizations. The Certified Medical Coder will be responsible for accurate, efficient coding of patient records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inpatient medical coding for DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) in compliance with the ICD-10-CM coding system.

  • Review and analyze clinical documents and other records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.

  • Ensure all coding is accurate, complete, and up to date with the latest guidelines and regulations.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify ambiguous or incomplete documentation.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance standards.

  • Stay current with coding updates, changes in guidelines, and the regulatory landscape.

  • Work with the medical billing team to ensure accurate claims processing.

  • Resolve coding errors and discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Provide education and training to internal teams and stakeholders as needed.

  • Assist with audits and reporting tasks as required by the organization.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or equivalent coding certification.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding, inpatient DRG, and medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with integrity and professionalism.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office and other relevant computer programs.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in inpatient coding or a similar role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.

  • Experience with DRG coding for inpatient stays is highly preferred.

  • Previous experience with medical coding audits or quality assurance processes is a plus.

  • Proven track record of working remotely or independently, managing multiple tasks effectively.


Working Hours:

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
