Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a passionate and experienced Professor de Português para Estrangeiros (Online) to join our dynamic online education team. In this role, you will teach Portuguese language to non-native speakers from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop communication skills for personal, academic, or professional purposes. You will deliver engaging, interactive lessons using modern digital teaching tools, ensuring students achieve language proficiency and cultural understanding in an immersive virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality online Portuguese language lessons tailored to the individual needs and proficiency levels of foreign learners.

• Use a variety of teaching methods and multimedia tools to foster student engagement and retention.

• Monitor student progress through assessments, assignments, and interactive activities, providing timely and constructive feedback.

• Adapt teaching strategies based on student performance and feedback to maximize learning outcomes.

• Develop customized lesson plans and supplementary learning materials aligned with curriculum goals.

• Communicate regularly with students and parents (if applicable) to address questions and provide support.

• Stay updated with the latest methodologies in language teaching and e-learning technologies.

• Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the online language program.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese.

• Bachelors degree or higher in Portuguese Language, Education, Linguistics, or related fields.

• Certification in Teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language (e.g., CAPLE, CELPE-Bras) is highly preferred.

• Proven experience teaching Portuguese to foreign learners in an online or classroom setting.

• Strong command of modern online teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Moodle, etc.) and digital tools.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students virtually.

• Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.

• Patience, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability in teaching diverse learner groups.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Portuguese as a foreign language.

• Prior experience teaching in an online format is strongly preferred.

• Experience working with adult learners, students, and professionals from varied cultural backgrounds is a plus.

Working Hours

• Flexible working hours to accommodate students in different time zones.

• Typically, 20 to 30 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours based on demand.

• Weekend and evening classes may be required.

• Fully remote position—work from home or any preferred location with reliable internet.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep understanding of Portuguese grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural nuances.

• Skilled in creating engaging, interactive, and student-centered lesson plans.

• Proficient in using digital classroom management and assessment tools.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple students and schedules effectively.

• Ability to motivate and inspire students remotely.

• Problem-solving skills to address technical issues and learner challenges during online sessions.
