Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented and linguistically adept Freelance Medical Terminology Translator to join our global freelance talent pool. This fully remote, project-based role is ideal for professionals with a strong command of medical terminology and proven expertise in translating medical texts accurately between languages. Translate medical documents such as patient reports, regulatory materials, clinical protocols, and pharmaceutical content between English and one or more target languages.
Maintain the highest level of accuracy while adapting the content to suit the target language and culture.
Use proper medical terminology, maintaining consistency throughout documents.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve terminology and content-related queries.
Proofread and edit translated materials to ensure linguistic and technical accuracy.
Ensure all translations comply with relevant medical and legal standards.
Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
Maintain confidentiality and data protection for sensitive medical records.
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Translation, Linguistics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Certification or formal training in medical translation is highly preferred.
Fluency in English and at least one other language (Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Japanese, or others).
Proven experience translating complex medical content.
Strong attention to detail and excellent grammar/spelling skills.
Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ) and medical dictionaries.
Ability to work independently and manage project-based tasks with minimal supervision.
Minimum of 2 years of professional translation experience in the medical or healthcare sector.
Prior work with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, or clinical research organizations is an advantage.
Freelance experience and a track record of meeting deadlines are preferred.
