Job Summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a dynamic and passionate Health & Safety Instructor to deliver high-quality First Aid, CPR, and other lifesaving training programs to individuals, organizations, and community groups. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED and other health and safety courses to a wide range of audiences.

  • Ensure the highest standard of instruction delivery and student engagement.

  • Set up and break down classroom environments including logistics such as materials, equipment, and technology.

  • Conduct skills evaluations and provide certification for participants meeting course standards.

  • Manage course records, rosters, evaluations, and incident reporting according to Red Cross protocols.

  • Provide feedback and suggestions for curriculum improvement based on field experience.

  • Travel within assigned region to deliver classes (mileage reimbursed).

  • Represent the American Red Cross in a professional and courteous manner while interacting with participants, clients, and venue staff.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred.

  • Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (or willing to obtain prior to hire).

  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage groups effectively and respond confidently to diverse classroom situations.

  • Proficient with technology such as Microsoft Office, email systems, and online learning tools.

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and managing travel logistics.

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.


Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching, training, coaching, or public speaking.

  • Prior experience in safety training, education, healthcare, emergency response, or military service is highly desirable.

  • Background in health sciences or occupational safety is an asset.


Working Hours

  • Part-time and full-time opportunities available.

  • Flexible scheduling, including weekdays and occasional weekends, depending on training demands.

  • Travel is required within a designated region, with potential overnight stays based on class schedules.
