Job Summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a dedicated and driven Regional Philanthropy Officer to join our Development team. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for building and managing relationships with donors, securing significant philanthropic contributions, and supporting the organizations mission through strategic fundraising initiatives. Your ability to engage, inspire, and steward donors will directly contribute to funding our disaster response, health & safety training, blood services, and other humanitarian programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies to meet or exceed annual revenue goals within an assigned portfolio.

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and prospects capable of contributing major gifts ($1,000 and above).

  • Conduct donor meetings virtually and in-person to build long-term relationships and present giving opportunities.

  • Prepare compelling proposals, reports, presentations, and donor correspondence tailored to donor interests and organizational needs.

  • Collaborate with local leadership, volunteers, and national development teams to align fundraising activities with regional priorities.

  • Maintain accurate donor records and reports using CRM systems (Salesforce or equivalent).

  • Represent the American Red Cross at regional events, donor engagements, and community outreach activities.

  • Stay informed about local, regional, and national Red Cross programs and initiatives to articulate funding impact effectively.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, or related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to engage high-net-worth individuals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Proficiency with CRM and donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising targets and deadlines.

  • High emotional intelligence, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with diverse audiences.


Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in individual giving, major gifts, or a similar nonprofit development role.

  • Experience working with donor portfolios of 100+ individuals is highly desirable.

  • Prior experience in planning donor events, campaigns, or capital initiatives is a plus.


Working Hours

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

  • Flexible work schedule with occasional evening and weekend hours based on donor availability and events.

  • Some regional travel required (25–40%) for face-to-face donor meetings and outreach.

  • Deep understanding of fundraising principles, donor cycles, and stewardship practices.

  • Ability to analyze donor data and translate insights into actionable fundraising strategies.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
