Job Summary

Cigna is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Program Senior Advisor (Nurse Executive) to provide strategic clinical leadership and oversight across enterprise-level healthcare programs. This senior role is designed for a nurse leader with deep clinical expertise, strong business acumen, and a passion for improving population health outcomes, quality of care, and cost efficiency. The incumbent will partner with executive stakeholders, medical directors, and cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize complex clinical programs that align with Cignas mission to make healthcare more affordable, predictable, and simple.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level clinical leadership for the design, governance, and optimization of enterprise clinical programs.

  • Lead strategic planning initiatives focused on quality improvement, utilization management, care coordination, and population health.

  • Serve as a trusted clinical advisor to senior leadership, offering evidence-based recommendations and insights.

  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, behavioral health leaders, and operational teams to ensure integrated, member-centric care delivery.

  • Oversee clinical program performance metrics, outcomes, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and professional nursing standards.

  • Evaluate emerging clinical trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and transformation.

  • Mentor and guide clinical leaders, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Support enterprise change management initiatives and large-scale clinical transformations.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN, MBA, MHA, or Doctorate strongly preferred.

  • Proven executive-level leadership experience in healthcare delivery, payer organizations, or population health.

  • Strong understanding of value-based care, quality metrics, and healthcare economics.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder-influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical strategy into operational execution.

  • High level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.


Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.

  • 5+ years in senior clinical leadership, program management, or nurse executive roles.

  • Experience working with large-scale clinical programs, health plans, or integrated healthcare systems preferred.


Working Hours

  • Full-time position.

  • Primarily standard business hours (Monday–Friday).

  • Flexibility required to support executive meetings, strategic initiatives, and national programs.

  • Remote or hybrid work options may be available depending on business needs and location.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of clinical program development, quality improvement, and care management models.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (CMS, NCQA, URAC, Joint Commission).
