📝 Job Summary

Progressive Technology is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Java/Oracle Developer to join our dynamic IT team. This is a remote position with preference given to candidates located in or near Houston, TX. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure enterprise applications using Java and Oracle technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into high-quality software solutions that enhance performance, functionality, and user experience.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications and Oracle database components.

• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand and document technical requirements.

• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices in software development.

• Develop and optimize PL/SQL queries, procedures, packages, and triggers.

• Perform unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning of applications.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving internal coding standards.

• Troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolutions.

• Support the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including documentation.

• Ensure security, performance, and scalability in application architecture.

• Provide production support and participate in scheduled on-call rotations as needed.

✅ Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java (8 or above) with hands-on experience in developing web-based applications.

• Solid understanding of Oracle RDBMS, SQL, and PL/SQL development.

• Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data).

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services.

• Knowledge of version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN).

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setup and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

🎓 Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required).

• 5+ years of experience in Java development with a strong focus on Oracle database technologies.

• Previous experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment is highly preferred.

• Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.

⏰ Working Hours

• Full-time, 40 hours per week

• Flexible working hours with some overlap in Central Time (CT) business hours for collaboration

• Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required during deployments or urgent support scenarios.
