MNC JOBS INFO is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Certified Inpatient Medical Coding Specialist to join our growing healthcare support team in Atascocita, TX. This role requires an experienced professional who excels in accurately coding inpatient medical records to optimize revenue cycle performance and ensure compliance with federal regulations and payer guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for excellence, deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM, PCS, MS-DRG, and APR-DRG systems, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of coding integrity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs to inpatient medical records based on thorough review of clinical documentation.

  • Ensure coding compliance with applicable coding guidelines and regulations (AHIMA, AHA Coding Clinic, CMS, and third-party payers).

  • Analyze patient records to identify all diagnoses and procedures relevant for reimbursement, statistical reporting, and research.

  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary through the query process.

  • Participate in internal and external coding audits and implement corrective actions based on audit feedback.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer regulations, and industry trends.

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior coders as needed.

  • Protect patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.

  • Meet or exceed established productivity and accuracy standards.

  • Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives within the coding department.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active and current AHIMA or AAPC certification (e.g., CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H).

  • Strong command of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, and APR-DRG classification systems.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and encoder software tools.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.


Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of inpatient hospital coding experience is required.

  • Experience working in a large hospital, health system, or third-party coding company preferred.

  • Prior experience with coding audits or Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs is an advantage.


Working Hours

  • Full-time position

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Central Time)

  • Flexible scheduling options may be available depending on departmental needs.
