Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking qualified and dedicated Nurses and Medical Staff to join prestigious cruise ship healthcare teams. Deliver primary and emergency healthcare to passengers and crew members onboard the cruise ship.
Conduct medical assessments, diagnostics, and treatment plans following maritime healthcare protocols.
Manage medical records accurately and confidentially in compliance with international maritime health regulations.
Provide first aid, administer medications, and perform minor medical procedures as required.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team, including physicians and specialists, to ensure comprehensive care.
Educate passengers and crew about health and safety procedures, disease prevention, and wellness promotion.
Maintain the medical inventory and ensure the cleanliness and readiness of medical facilities.
Report and document medical incidents and participate in health and safety drills.
Stay updated on maritime medical regulations and best practices.
Registered Nurse (RN) or equivalent medical qualification recognized in South Africa.
Valid nursing license with proof of registration from the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Experience in emergency care, primary healthcare, or clinical nursing.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
Proficient in medical documentation and healthcare software systems.
Physically fit and able to work in confined and dynamic environments like ships.
Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules and extended periods away from home.
Minimum 2-3 years of professional nursing or medical experience, preferably in emergency, clinical, or maritime healthcare settings.
Previous experience working on cruise ships, maritime vessels, or in travel medicine is highly desirable.
Experience in handling diverse medical conditions and providing care in isolated environments will be an advantage.
Typical shifts onboard may vary but generally include rotating 8 to 12-hour shifts.
Extended contracts often range from 6 to 8 months onboard, followed by shore leave.
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as per ship schedules.
Strong clinical knowledge and practical nursing skills applicable in emergency and routine care.
Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful and emergency situations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and sound medical judgment.
Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse passenger and crew backgrounds.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
