Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Remote Subtitles Translator to assist in localizing Netflix series for global audiences. This position involves translating and adapting subtitles from English into various target languages while maintaining the essence, tone, and cultural context of the original content. Key Responsibilities

• Accurately translate and localize English subtitles into your native language while preserving meaning, humor, and intent.

• Sync subtitle timings with dialogue and on-screen actions.

• Edit and proofread subtitles to ensure grammatical accuracy and cultural relevance.

• Adhere to Netflixs quality standards and subtitle guidelines.

• Collaborate with editors, QA specialists, and project managers to ensure timely delivery.

• Use proprietary subtitle tools and translation software efficiently.

• Maintain confidentiality of unreleased content and client information.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Native fluency in one or more target languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Hindi, Korean, Arabic, Japanese, etc.)

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken

• Strong understanding of grammar, idioms, and cultural nuances

• Experience using subtitle editing software (e.g., Subtitle Edit, Aegisub, Ooona, or similar tools)

• Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines

• Strong computer literacy and typing skills

• Excellent communication and time management abilities

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in subtitle translation, media localization, or related linguistic work

• Prior work in entertainment, media, or streaming content localization is preferred

• Experience with Netflix translation workflows is a strong plus

Working Hours

• Fully remote and flexible

• Choose your own schedule—work part-time or full-time based on availability

• Must meet translation deadlines and coordinate availability with project managers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep appreciation and understanding of film/TV content and storytelling

• Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities

• Cultural sensitivity and awareness of regional language variations

• Familiarity with streaming platforms and subtitle standards
