Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a skilled and motivated PHP Laravel Developer to join our remote engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced backend developer who is passionate about writing clean, scalable code and delivering efficient web applications using Laravel and related technologies. As part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will contribute to building robust software solutions that drive innovation and enhance user experience across various digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using the Laravel PHP framework.

• Collaborate with front-end developers and designers to integrate user-facing elements.

• Design and implement APIs and database structures to support application functionality.

• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot/debug issues as they arise.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle including planning, design, development, testing, and deployment.

• Conduct code reviews, write unit tests, and ensure code quality and documentation.

• Stay current with Laravel and PHP best practices, tools, and industry trends.

• Work closely with project managers and clients to gather and refine technical requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficiency in PHP with deep expertise in the Laravel framework.

• Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design principles.

• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.

• Proficient with version control systems, especially Git.

• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Vue.js is a plus.

• Ability to write clean, reusable, and well-documented code.

• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and time management abilities.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in PHP development with at least 1 year specifically working with Laravel.

• Proven experience in remote project execution and collaborating with distributed teams.

• Experience with cloud deployment (e.g., AWS, DigitalOcean) and CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.

Working Hours

• Full-Time Remote Role

• Flexible hours with core collaboration time between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM IST

• Monday to Friday (Weekend Off)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and MVC architecture.

• Knowledge of security best practices in web development.

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Eagerness to learn new technologies and contribute innovative ideas to the team.
