Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is hiring energetic and detail-oriented Laundry Assistants to join the onboard hospitality team for a luxury cruise line. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to work in an international environment while ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in guest and crew laundry services. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the presentation and sanitation of all laundered items onboard.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, steamers, and pressing equipment in accordance with safety and operational standards.

• Sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold linens, towels, uniforms, and guest garments.

• Ensure accurate labeling and handling of personal guest laundry and dry cleaning services.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area at all times.

• Conduct routine checks on laundry equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.

• Follow all hygiene, safety, and sanitation regulations required in maritime housekeeping.

• Assist the housekeeping team with additional cleaning duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Basic understanding of laundry equipment operations.

• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures precisely.

• Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy laundry loads.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Basic English communication skills (reading labels, simple instructions).

Experience

• No prior cruise ship experience required – training will be provided onboard.

• Prior experience in hotels, hospitals, or commercial laundry facilities is an advantage but not mandatory.

Working Hours

• Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays.

• Average of 9–10 hours per day, 6 days a week (depending on voyage schedules).

• Flexibility required due to shipboard operations and docking schedules.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of fabric care instructions and stain treatment techniques.

• Time management and ability to meet deadlines consistently.

• Team-oriented with a willingness to support colleagues when needed.

• Ability to adapt to changing tasks and multicultural working environments.
