Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic to join our dynamic aviation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of aircraft, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with FAA regulations. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining aircraft to the highest operational standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections, maintenance, and repairs of airframes, engines, and powerplant systems in accordance with FAA regulations.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, troubleshoot, and implement effective solutions.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs while maintaining accurate maintenance records.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulatory requirements during all maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with pilots, engineers, and other maintenance personnel to ensure aircraft readiness and reliability.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts; report shortages or malfunctions.

  • Stay updated on the latest aviation technologies, repair procedures, and regulatory changes.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification (mandatory).

  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, and structural components.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.

  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and aircraft maintenance software.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.


Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial or general aviation aircraft.

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, inspections, and FAA-compliant documentation.

  • Experience working with both piston and turbine engine aircraft is highly desirable.


Working Hours

  • Full-time role, typically 40–45 hours per week.

  • Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate maintenance needs, including evenings, weekends, or emergency repairs.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of FAA regulations, airworthiness standards, and safety compliance.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with complex aircraft systems.
